Matthew Hoffman in Novemember 2010 entered the home of Tina Herrmann stabbing to death Herrmann and her 11 yr old son Kody as well as Stephanie Sprang, a family friend who had been visiting Herrmann at the time. Afterwards, he dismembered the bodies and placed the parts inside a hollow tree in a wildlife area. He abducted and kept Herrmann's 13 yr old daughter, Sarah Maynard, captive. He tied her to a bed of leaves in his basement and continuously sexually assaulted her.
Investigating authorities eventually classified Hoffman as a suspect of the Herrmann home invasion and abductions, raiding his home on November 14 as he slept on his couch; he was arrested and Sarah was safely recovered from the basement. In his incarceration, Hoffman wrote a four-page confession letter about his crimes and revealed the location of his victims' bodies to police.
Two page (both pages front and back) handwritten letter from Hoffman. Content centers around religion and is his views on Christianity. Original matching handwritten envelope is included.
